Clinical Negligence

“Established set of chambers with notable expertise in complex claims, acting for both claimants and defendants.”

Chambers and Partners 2019

Our clinical negligence team is recognised for its ability to integrate substantial legal knowledge with a profound understanding of medicine. We are regularly at the forefront of important and complex cases involving birth injury cases and complex neurological and surgical cases.

Members are particularly proficient at scrutinising complex expert evidence, and assisting in the assimilation and development of evidence necessary to support a successful claim. Our barristers are known for their proactive, early involvement in cases, providing direction and strategy from the outset.

We act for a range of private and publicly funded claimants, and our defendant clients include hospitals, NHS organisations, medical defence organisations and insurance bodies.

Areas of work we cover include, but are not limited to:

  • Catastrophic injuries (including head / brain injuries and spinal injuries)
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Claims involving misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis
  • Claims relating to the Human Rights Act
  • Cosmetic surgery
  • Dental negligence
  • General practice
  • Gynaecology
  • Obstetric and neo-natal management
