James was called to the Bar in 2018 and became a tenant following a successful completion of pupillage under the guidance of Paul Kirtley at Exchange Chambers. James has developed a Common Law practice with a focus on Crime and Personal Injury. James prides himself on his analytic approach and attention to detail in each case in which he is instructed. He is approachable and fosters excellent relationships with clients and aims to build lasting relationships with solicitors. James balances a thriving Criminal practice alongside his Civil work appearing in the Crown Court, Magistrates and Youth Courts. He has acted for both the Prosecution and Defence in preliminary matters, sentencing hearings, and appeals against conviction and sentence. He has received instructions to appear in the Crown Court on matters involving violence, dishonesty, drugs and sexual offences.
He also has a developing interest in regulatory work having prosecuted for the DVSA and the Insolvency Service. He also has experience of RSPCA prosecutions.
James has experience of Employment matters and is happy to advise and receive instructions in Employment cases.
