    Away from the bar, Richard is a keen aviator, holding a pilot’s licence and being a member of the BAE Systems Flying Club at Wharton, Lancashire. He is also plays jazz bass and piano and has performed internationally in a number of jazz big bands.

Healthcare (Acting for the Professional)

Richard has considerable experience in dealing with NHS and private healthcare contracts for GP’s, Dentists and Dental Professionals. He has been instructed by a number of GP practices regarding disputes over NHS services in addition to property disputes where the NHS fund the practices ‘owned’ premises.

He has recently advised and represented a large GP Practice in a claim by the NHS for alleged overpayment of rental subsidies for the practice premises. Despite the hostility of the litigation, Richard was successful in negotiating a potential solution via mediation.

Richard also specialises in NHS dental contracts and has represented a number of both Dental Practices and individual Dental Performers with NHS disputes. He also advises and represents parties with disputes involving locum and/or associate dentists.

Richard recently successfully represented a Dental Practice that had been sued by a locum dentist for breach of contract following the termination of the temporary contract.

He works closely with specialised healthcare Solicitors who represent Dental practices and individual Dental performers in all aspects of legal work including the sale and purchase of dental practices, contractual disputes and GDC representation.
