He has dealt with data protection issues for many years, initially through his work with telecommunications companies. He therefore well appreciates the issues created by the Data Protection Acts for both consumers and customer-facing businesses.
Gareth recognises that there is a growing trend for group actions arising out of major data breach incidents. He has particular experience of such work and is currently instructed as junior counsel in actions against Ticketmaster, Equifax and British Airways. He is also instructing in claims against other household names.
Gareth is able to advise on questions of data rectification and interpretation of the exemptions, particularly as they impact on medical and other public bodies. He has recently provided advice on jurisdiction issues arising out of amendments to the GDPR following Brexit.
He is happy to consider instructions from both claimants and defendants.
