Criminal

Caroline is an experienced Junior with an expanding practice in serious and complex crime. She has extensive experience prosecuting and defending in cases involving organised crime, drugs and serious violence.

Caroline is able to deal with legal argument in a fearless manner and prides herself on detailed written advocacy and preparation. She is experienced in analysing and challenging complicated scientific, expert and telephonic evidence.

Caroline deals with her clients in a sensitive and tactful manner where required, she is personable and amiable but can also be very robust in her representations.

Caroline is committed to supporting social mobility at the Bar and has a keen interest in mentoring Bar students.

Criminal Cases

R v AL – representing a defendant charged with human trafficking, causing or inciting a prostitute for gain and controlling prostitution for gain.

R v JH – Defendant cleared of rape against a woman at her home address following a night out.

R v DK – Acquittal secured for defendant charged with s18 assault after stealing a van and running over the complainant.

R v CN – Acquittal secured for defendant charged with s18 wounding for using a knife to inflict wounds to the complainant’s face.

R v SB – Defendant cleared of affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm outside of his home address.

R v OT – Acquittal secured for defendant charged with witness intimidation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

R v JG – Represented a man charged with s18 wounding and false imprisonment concerning an ex-partner.

R v OW – Represented a man charged with s18 wounding in a night club.

R v JC – Represented a man charged with armed robbery, he was found to be unfit to plead and stand trial. Acquitted following a two-day finding of fact hearing.

R v SM – Represented a defendant charged with evading duty on the importation of cigarettes to the value of £146,000.

R v WC – Represented a youth charged with armed robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

R v ZJ – Defendant cleared of being in possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

R v GR – Represented a man charged with attempted rape, indecent assault and threats to kill involving his stepdaughter.

R v CD – Represented a man charged with child sex offences involving two separate complainants.

R v RP – Represented a defendant charged with death by dangerous driving.

R v NL – Defended in a case involving death by careless driving.

R v JW and others – Successfully prosecuted 12 members of an organised crime group for evading duty to the value of 10 million pounds. Led junior.

R v AB and DP – Successfully prosecuted two defendants in possession with intent to supply 10 kilograms of cocaine.

R v CB – Successfully prosecuted a defendant charged with s18 assault and intentional strangulation where the complainant could not recall the assault.

R v CB – Successfully prosecuted a defendant charged with aggravated burglary and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

R v MK – Successfully prosecuted a finding of fact hearing concerning a defendant threatening a member of the public with a knife in a public park.

R v AM – Successfully prosecuted a finding of fact hearing where the defendant had set fire to different areas of his parent’s house.
