Amie has a busy commercial practice that covers all aspects of commercial litigation, with a particular focus on contractual disputes, commercial fraud and professional negligence. Amie favours a team approach with clients and regularly deals with cases from the outset through to conclusion, providing tactical advice and guidance throughout the course of proceedings with a hands-on and proactive approach to litigation.
Amie routinely appears in the County and High Court in respect of interlocutory applications and multi-day trials.
Amie has particular specialist experience in equestrian disputes. An example of Amie’s experience in this area includes successfully representing the claimant purchaser in a multi-day trial relating to the sale of a horse concerning issues of breach of contract, misrepresentation, negligence and agency. Amie welcomes instructions relating to equine disputes and has extensive experience of advising in conference or in writing.
Amie has been led in several cases, including:
- An adjudication concerning a high-value construction dispute
- A multi-million pound shareholder dispute involving a counterclaim and a separate Part 20 claim against the Fourth Party that included allegations of deceit and fraudulent misrepresentation during a three-week trial led by Giles Maynard-Connor KC, the details of which can be found here
- An urgent application to appoint provisional liquidators where Amie was led by Tony Beswetherick KC
- Co-defending with Giles Maynard-Connor KC in respect of a multi-million pound claim for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and unlawful means conspiracy
Amie’s extensive led work has allowed her to gain considerable experience in respect of case strategy and advocacy. She is regularly instructed in matters well beyond her year of call.
Additionally, Amie has represented clients at mediation, both remotely and in-person.
