Costs and Litigation Funding

Before coming to the Bar, Kate worked as a Costs Negotiator and Advisor for two national solicitors’ firms.

Kate has acted for both paying and receiving parties on matters arising from the full spectrum of civil litigation. Despite being the most junior member of the Costs Teams at those firms, Kate was regularly recommended to assist senior partners and directors in high-value and technically complex matters, often replacing junior counsel. Notwithstanding her junior status, Kate has considerable experience in costs and litigation funding work. This includes undertaking arguments on points of law, detailed assessments, technical appeals and providing formal advice to insurers and funders.

Kate also has wide experience of applications for security for costs, fixed costs, disputes concerning conduct, non-party costs orders and wasted costs.

Kate’s technical capability, married with her practical advice and personable approach, allows her to deliver first-class service in all aspects of cost litigation. Further, having spent a considerable period in solicitor’s firms, Kate is well placed to understand the wider picture, along with the commercial needs of all aspects of costs and litigation funding.

Kate is keen to expand her practice further and, in that regard, welcomes contact by email or phone.
