Bill Braithwaite QC and Chris Allen secure lump sum settlement of £6.225 million

July 3, 2019

Mr Justice Jay approved the settlement which Bill Braithwaite QC and Chris Allen had negotiated at a JSM in the sum of £6.225m on a lump sum basis for a significantly brain injured cyclist. As the case is now the subject of reporting restrictions and an anonymity order it is not possible to provide any further details of the case.

In respect of the settlement Chris commented: “It was a huge privilege to be part of the legal team acting on behalf of this Claimant. He suffered devastating injuries but the £6.225m settlement ensures that the Claimant’s lifelong care needs can be provided for on a commercial basis as well as guaranteeing there is ample provision for aids, adaptations, therapies and treatment to ensure the Claimant has a better quality of living. It was also a pleasure to work closely with the hugely experienced and true brain injury specialist Yasmin Ameer of Nockolds Solicitors”

Bill and Chris were instructed by Yasmin Ameer of Nockolds Solicitors.

Bill is a vastly experienced and well-known personal injury practitioner. He has represented over one thousand catastrophically injured claimants, and regularly recovers more than £50 million a year in compensation for catastrophically injured claimants.

Chris has a well-established personal injury practice, which has grown considerably in recent years. As a former solicitor (admitted 2006), he brings a depth of experience to his work well beyond his year of call.

Both are members of the personal injury team at Exchange Chambers.
