Penny was called to the Bar in 2021 by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple and will start the practising period of pupillage under the supervision of Paul Lakin on 4th March 2024. Penny intends to pursue a broad business and property practice across chambers’ practice areas including insolvency, property, wills and probate, commercial and company.

During first six, Penny has observed and worked on a wide range of matters including High Court & County Court trials on common intention constructive trusts, damage to property, promissory estoppel and unpaid invoices, as well as insolvency applications, CCMCs and possession matters. Penny has also drafted particulars of claim, skeleton arguments, defences, written submissions and orders on a wide range of business and property matters.

Before commencing pupillage, Penny was a corporate paralegal at DLA Piper working between the intellectual property and technology team (Manchester) and the corporate team (Sheffield). She worked predominantly on the restructuring of General Electric and the separation of its healthcare business, reviewing contracts, drafting contractual clauses and negotiating NDAs.
