Exchange Chambers’ Alexandra Sutton appointed as Junior of the Northern Circuit

July 1, 2020

Alexandra Sutton from Exchange Chambers has been appointed as Junior of the Northern Circuit.

Alexandra was appointed to the role on 25 June 2020 at the Northern Circuit Mess. Traditionally, the Manchester Junior performs the role for the summer term but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Alex will remain in her post until the end of the year.

In her role as Junior of the Northern Circuit, Alexandra will work with the Leader of the Circuit, Lisa Roberts QC, with responsibility for organising Mess dinners for the Bar and Bench in Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, Carlisle and Chester. She will also organise an annual Congratulatory Dinner, which honours members of the circuit who have been appointed to senior judicial positions.

Alexandra was called to the Bar in 2017 and became a tenant at Exchange Chambers in October 2018 following the successful completion of her pupillage, which encompassed criminal, regulatory and common law work. Since then, she has developed a busy criminal practice, prosecuting and defending in equal measure.

Commenting on Alexandra’s appointment, Jonathan I’Anson, Chief Executive at Exchange Chambers said:

“We are delighted for Alex. Since being called to the Bar three years ago, and at a challenging time for criminal practitioners, she has made a hugely positive impression within Chambers and with her peers across the Northern Circuit.”
