Success for Nicholas Walker in novel remote Court of Appeal case

April 7, 2020

Nicholas Walker from Exchange Chambers has secured the early release from Prison of former Cheshire Police Officer Michael Luckett in a novel remote hearing in the Court of Appeal.

Each of the Court of Appeal judges, Mr Walker and Mr Luckett used Skype to take part in the hearing which concerned an appeal of a 12 month sentence imposed at Manchester Crown Court in January.

Praising his “clear and eloquent submissions”, Lady Justice Simler agreed that the sentence was manifestly excessive and reduced the sentence to 4 months ensuring his immediate release.

With over 20 years’ experience in complex cases, Nicholas’ practice now centres on professional discipline where he is in demand across the country for his hard-working and common-sense approach and his persuasive advocacy.
