Steven Crossley in successful defence of Police Sergeant

March 10, 2017

Steven Crossley has been successful in the defence of a Police Sergeant of Lincolnshire Police.

Sergeant M, of Lincolnshire Police, was charged with the Common Assault of a detained person. The principal evidence came from a Police Constable who alleged that following a verbal complaint of assault by a detained person, the Sergeant had said the words “No, this is an assault” and then punched the detainee in the face. Following a 3 day trial at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court, the Magistrates acquitted Sergeant M and observed they could not be satisfied that the Police Constable had seen and heard what she alleged.

Steven was instructed by Darren Cooke of Slater and Gordon Solicitors.

Steven is recognised as a Leading Individual in Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners and is a leading member of Chambers’ police law and disciplinary team.
