Our 2023 Clinical Negligence Webinar will be held over two days and will cover a wide range of topical talks from our Clinical Negligence team. We are delighted to be joined by some well known medico-legal experts in the field. The full programme can be found below:

Monday 22nd May:

 

09:30 – 10:30 – Christian Taylor and Michael Wyatt, vascular expert, will talk about limb ischaemia

11:00 – 12:00 – Kerron Rohrer – Competing causes of injury and loss in clinical negligence cases – An overview

12:30 – 13:30 – Chris Barnes KC – Montgomery and consent: where are we now?

14:00 – 15:00 – Professor Sagar, Professor of Surgery at Leeds and Dr Kevin Naylor – A practitioner’s guide to surgical negligence claims

15:30 – 16:30 – Sara Sutherland and Trudi Moore with Mark Waterstone, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist – an overview of high risk obstetrics

 

Tuesday 23rd May:

 

09:30 – 10:30 – Dr Lieberman and Chris Gutteridge – Missed diagnosis of cancer in general practice – Cases based on missed opportunities to make early referrals in cases of suspected cancers are all too common, and can lead to very high value claims. Chris Gutteridge and Dr. Jonathan Lieberman (General Practitioner) will discuss the important clinical guidelines for clinical negligence lawyers to be aware of, how GPs deal with suspected cancers ‘on the front line’ and how to build a successful claim when a cancer diagnosis is missed in a primary care setting.

12:30 – 13:30 – Matthew Stockwell – Mental capacity and clinical negligence. Recent Developments, practical Issues and traps for the unwary

14:00 – 15:00 – Gerard Martin KC – Has breaking the chain of causation just become easier? See Jenkinson v Hertfordshire CC. Gerard will consider the High Court judgement in Webb v Barclays Bank
