Criminal

Fiona is an experienced Category 3 prosecutor with a wide range of experience in both prosecuting and defending criminal cases. She is a member of the CPS Specialist Rape Panel and is an accredited Advocacy Trainer.

  • Her experience covers a wide range of criminal work including:
  • Sexual offences
  • Serious violence and firearms offence
  • Drugs supply and conspiracies
  • Motoring offences including fatal claims
  • Health and Safety prosecutions
  • Proceeds of crime, money laundering, forfeiture and confiscation
  • Fraud (VAT, benefit, identity and insurance fraud).

Fiona has extensive experience of highly sensitive cases which requires her to communicate effectively and compassionately with people in difficult circumstances. She is able to deal with extremely sensitive situations and subject matter with tact and pragmatism.

Criminal Cases

R v E (2019) – Defending a primary school teacher facing allegations of sexual assault on 6 of his pupils over a number of years.  Issues of cross admissibility and bad character arose. Use of s28 in respect of adults.

R v M (2019) – Defence of a woman charged with perverting the course of justice in the course of a murder investigation in relation to her boyfriend. The case involved heavy reliance on mobile phone evidence.

R v A (2019) – Defence of a Romanian national charged with a campaign of rape, sexual assault and assault on sex workers involving the extreme degradation of the victims. The case was complicated by the particular vulnerability of the victims. This required a particularly sensitive approach to cross examination.

R v B and G (2019) – Prosecution of a couple for their involvement in a widespread romance fraud. Extensive surveillance evidence was adduced during the course of the case.

R v K (2018) – Defence of a mother charged with her husband with causing grievous bodily harm and allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm on their twin baby boys. The case involved extensive cross examination of a leading radiologist.
