Operation Venetic – Harriet Lavin Secures Conviction in Class A Drugs Conspiracy

Harriet Lavin, instructed by Nicola Carter from the Crown Prosecution Service, successfully prosecuted a Defendant charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine, diamorphine (heroin) and cannabis.

The Defendant, Christopher Young, was one of many individuals arrested as a result of messages from the encrypted EncroChat devices being obtained by the French authorities from 1st April 2020. Christopher Young went by the username ‘Silentwinter’ and is estimated to have been involved in the supply of at least 24 kilograms of cocaine, 2 kilograms of heroin and 24 kilograms of cannabis.

After a seven day trial, the jury returned a unanimous verdict of guilt in respect of these allegations. The Defendant will be sentenced in March.
