International Women’s Day 2022

March 8, 2022

Exchange Chambers is proud to support International Women’s Day 2022.

International Women’s Day, which dates back to 1911, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.

The campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is #BreakTheBias. This year also marks the centenary of the first female barristers to be called to the English Bar in 1922.

Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough. Action is needed to level the playing field.

At Exchange Chambers, we are committed to playing our part in accelerating gender parity through a wide range of initiatives.

We are, for example, proud signatories of the Women in Law Pledge, created by the Bar Council of England and Wales, The Law Society, and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, to help tackle the issue of gender equality within the legal profession.

Our management and members are absolutely committed to dismantling barriers to gender equality and creating a truly inclusive culture.
