Hillsborough Match Commander found not guilty of gross negligence manslaughter

David Duckenfield, the Match Commander at the time of the FA Cup semi-final in which 96 people lost their lives on the 15th April 1989, has been found not guilty of gross negligence manslaughter by a jury at Preston Crown Court after a trial lasting 8 weeks. Mr. Duckenfield was represented by Benjamin Myers QC and Michael Maher of Exchange Chambers, and by JMW Solicitors LLP.

The sympathy of all remains with the bereaved and all of those who have suffered as a result of the tragedy at Hillsborough.
