Exchange Chambers names Mersey Counselling and Therapy Centre as its official charity

August 1, 2018

Exchange Chambers has named Mersey Counselling and Therapy Centre (MCTC) as its official charity.

Exchange Chambers’ partnership with MCTC, which will run through to 2020, is in keeping with its commitment to wellbeing in the workplace. Earlier this year, Exchange Chambers was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the Bar Council in recognition of its efforts in making wellbeing a mainstream part of its culture.

MCTC exists to provide support to a range of clients who are unable to access the help they need through the social care system or are unable to afford to access care independently. The range of care and support offered is extensive and relies on a group of fully professional volunteer counsellors.

Over the last two years, Chambers raised a significant amount for a children’s cancer charity through a range of initiatives including the National Three Peaks Challenge, the Greater Manchester Marathon, the Liverpool Half Marathon, an online auction, Christmas card collection, fashion show, wine tasting evening and charity ball.

Commenting on Exchange Chambers’ new charity partner, Tom Handley, Chief Executive at Exchange Chambers said:

“Chambers has long recognised the importance of wellbeing in the workplace and MCTC is a charity that’s close to our heart.

“Over the last two years, we have taken our charity initiatives to a whole new level with more barristers and staff than ever before playing an active role in our fundraising programme.   We are looking forward to continuing this in support of MCTC.”

Said Angela O’Connor, Director at MCTC:

“MCTC is delighted, privileged and excited to have been selected as Exchange Chambers’ charity of choice. Exchange Chambers is committed to Wellbeing at the Bar and MCTC are committed to supporting good mental health and wellbeing throughout the community so it feels like a great fit.

“At MCTC, we are looking forward to a fruitful partnership going forward.”
