£80,000 settlement for Chris Richards in complex public liability claim
May 24, 2022
Chris Richards has successfully represented a lady who was injured after a slipping accident at a supermarket.
The Claimant was walking through a supermarket car park when she slipped and fell. The weather was cold and there was snow and ice on the surface of the car park. The car park had not been gritted and the surface had become very slippery. The Claimant suffered a trimalleolar fracture of the right ankle, causing pain, stiffness and functional limitation.
The Defendant accepted that they were to blame for the accident. The real question was how much the claim was worth. Chris and his instructing solicitors arranged for the Claimant to be seen by a specialist ankle surgeon for her injury to be fully evaluated. Chris and his instructing solicitors also considered in detail the effect of the injury upon the Claimant’s employment.
With careful preparation of the case from Chris and his experienced solicitors, the Defendant agreed to settle the case and pay the Claimant £80,000 on account of her damages. The Claimant will also receive a substantial award of costs.
Chris Richards is a member of the personal injury department at Exchange Chambers, and was instructed by Tasneem Bodi of AYB Law.
