October 17, 2025
Sacha Waxman from Exchange Chambers has secured convictions on multiple charges in a case she prosecuted at Preston Crown Court.
The defendant was charged on indictment with 7 offences, all committed in a domestic context.
Two victims resulted, his ex-partner and her mother, both of whom alleged in March 2025 that he assaulted them at a football ground. Other offences at trial were historic in nature, including a ten-year indictment period of Controlling & Coercive Behaviour, two incidents of Threats to Kill, Strangulation and Criminal Damage.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all offences.
The trial involved extensive use of telephone, audio, and video evidence. Before and during the trial, applications to adduce the defendant’s bad character were successfully made.
After a six-day trial, the jury unanimously convicted the defendant of five counts and by majority convicted the defendant on the sixth. Sentence has been adjourned until December 2025.
Sacha Waxman was instructed by Leveene Hill from CPS North West.
