Success for Imran Shafi KC in Court of Appeal

Imran Shafi KC from Exchange Chambers was successful today in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division).

Imran’s client had sought leave to appeal his conviction and sentence for murder. His initial application to the single judge was rejected.

Imran attended the Court of Appeal and renewed the application for permission to appeal conviction and sentence. Having heard Imran’s persuasive oral submissions, the court granted leave to appeal against conviction and sentence on all the grounds put forward.

There is a reporting restriction in place so Imran’s client cannot be identified.
