Steven Crossley successfully defends in Police Misconduct Hearings

July 4, 2016

In June, Steven Crossley from Exchange Chambers successfully represented police officers in a police misconduct case from West Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Police.

In West Yorkshire, the officer was accused of breaches of Honesty and Integrity and Discreditable Conduct relating to off duty matters. After a contested Hearing, the Panel agreed with the defence that the conduct did not represent a breach of Honesty and Integrity. Despite representations from the Appropriate Authority of West Yorkshire Police that the officer should be dismissed, he received a Final Written Warning.

In South Yorkshire, the officer was accused of excessive use of force and dishonestly completing police documents. Following a 3 day Hearing, the Panel dismissed all allegations of police misconduct against the officer.

Steven was instructed by Kristina Lancaster and Dan McNally of Slater and Gordon Solicitors.
