Neuropsychology assessment is often key to unravelling the cognitive and behavioural effects of acquired brain injury and a prerequisite for effective rehabilitation and presentation of claims. However, the quality and reliability of assessments can vary and there are some misunderstandings about use of this evidence.

We are delighted to be holding a free Zoom webinar with Dr Gaby Parker, Consultant Neuropsychologist, and Matthew Stockwell from our Personal Injury team, taking a back to basics look at neuropsychology evidence in brain injury litigation:

Dr Parker will look at the role of the neuropsychologist from a clinical and medico-legal perspective and give some useful pointers, including:

  • What qualifications your neuropsychology expert (and treating clinicians) should have?
  • What makes a good/reliable neuropsychology assessment?
  • What does all the data mean and how is it used?
  • What are the common pitfalls and areas of dispute?
  • How can you help your neuropsychologist?

Matthew Stockwell will give an overview of the legal framework, case examples illustrating how a Judge might approach neuropsychology evidence and some of the contentious issues in practice.
