Matthew will take an up-to-date look at investigation and presentation of RTA claims involving child pedestrians. Investigating child pedestrian claims and the role of the reconstruction expert. The assessment of driver and pedestrian visibility in determining whether and/or when a vulnerable road user could be observed, what does the published research say about how children’s capabilities differ from adults. Including perception and detection of traffic, conceptualisation of speed and distance, processing time, reaction times and decision-making, competency and awareness of danger, distraction, conventional wisdom and (misplaced) reliance on authority and practical considerations when investigating and evidencing negligence.
