Rachel Webster secures acquittal in multi-handed Class A drug supply and production of cannabis trial

May 14, 2025

Rachel Webster from Exchange Chambers, instructed by Victoria Thompson of Tuckers Solicitors, has successfully secured the acquittal of a defendant charged with a number of drug offences, including possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and production of cannabis, following a multi-handed trial at Leeds Crown Court.

The defendant stood trial alongside a co-accused in a case involving serious allegations of drug supply and production. The Crown alleged that both defendants were jointly involved in the supply of Class A drugs and the production of cannabis, following the discovery of a cannabis factory located in an upstairs bedroom and a number of drugs scattered around the property.

The case was contested by the co-accused on a cut-throat defence basis, with each defendant seeking to distance themselves from the drugs, and with the co-accused attributing blame to the defendant. Following careful preparation by Ms Thompson and persuasive advocacy by Ms Webster, including a compelling closing speech, both defendants were acquitted by the jury.
