Update – Mini Pupillages
Chambers has decided to update/refresh how we deal with mini pupillage applications.
Successful mini pupils will spend 2 days in Chambers (Liverpool, Manchester or Leeds) shadowing Counsel to Court and conferences (where applicable).
We welcome applications from 2nd year university students and above.
Application is via CV (no more than 1 side of A4) and covering letter answering two questions:-
- Why Exchange Chambers?
- Why the Interest in Law?
Applications will be open during 3 periods of the year (applications received out of these times will not be considered)
| Monday 2nd February 2026 – Tuesday 31st March 2026 | Successful applicants should be in a position to complete their mini pupillage during April 2026 |

What do we offer?
We see mini-pupillages as an important part of our pupillage selection process, giving participants the opportunity to experience life in Chambers, and to observe and undertake the kind of work they would expect during a pupillage with us.
Just as we split our pupillages into common law, criminal, family or business and property practice, so too will mini-pupils focus on one area or the other, spending time (two days) with practitioners in that area and undertaking relevant paperwork. For that reason, we ask applicants to state when they apply in which area they would prefer to practice. Mini pupils will also have the opportunity to meet and speak to the other members of Chambers.
Please get in touch with Chantal Core if you have any queries.
“My mini-pupillage at Exchange Chambers was an invaluable experience. Shadowing barristers in commercial cases gave me firsthand insight into the practical realities of litigation, and the intricacies of case preparation. The clerks and barristers were very friendly, making it an enriching and motivating experience.”
