Peter Dixon plans for the future with career change

July 7, 2014

One of the property industry’s leading planning advisers has switched careers and joined Exchange Chambers as a barrister.

Peter Dixon, a founding partner of Hepher Dixon, qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1988.  He became an Associate at property consultants Grimley JR Eve in 1990, before co-founding Hepher Dixon Planning and Regeneration in 1995.  In 2007 Hepher Dixon was acquired by Savills, where Peter was Head of Planning and Regeneration in the North of England.   Now, after retraining as a barrister, Peter has joined Exchange Chambers in Manchester as the fast expanding Barristers’ Chambers seeks to build its planning expertise.

Commenting on his new role, Peter Dixon said:

“From the outset of my career I have been fortunate to be involved in complex and challenging planning and development projects.

“As a practicing barrister I intend to continue to specialise in planning and property, building on the experience I gained during my ‘first’ career and developing my particular interests in infrastructure and energy planning and in the interaction between planning control and other areas of public and private law.  Exchange Chambers is one of the largest sets in the country so this is a wonderful opportunity for me.”

Said Tom Handley, Director of Chambers at Exchange Chambers:

“Peter has the skills, experience and contacts to develop a very successful career at the Bar.  His track record speaks for itself and we are delighted to further develop our planning expertise with his arrival at Chambers.”
