    Paul is married with two daughters.

    Paul had a long Local Government career as a Liverpool City Councillor for 34  years. He represented the County Ward Area of Walton in Liverpool undefeated for 34 years before retiring in 2010 from the City Council. He was Leader of the Opposition 1989-1992.

    He had the honour of being the Lord Mayor of Liverpool during 2007/2008 and thereby opened (with Ringo Starr) Liverpool’s Year of the European Capital Culture. He represented the City throughout that momentous year.

    Paul is a season ticket holder of Liverpool FC and is a very keen football follower having played amateur football when younger.

    Paul is a member of Woolton Golf Club and plays golf not to a high standard!

Personal Injury

Paul acts for injured claimants only. His personal injury practice is wide-ranging. It covers injuries arising from road traffic accidents, employer’s liability cases, public liability cases and common law matters.

Paul is regularly instructed in catastrophic brain injury or spinal injury cases, multiple orthopaedic injury cases including upper and lower limb injuries and chronic pain syndrome matters.

Paul is particularly chosen by many solicitors in relation to their fatal accident cases and road traffic accident liability disputes requiring forensic analysis.

Cases

Settled (whilst working with Bill Braithwaite Q.C.) a case for a badly brain injured young man for the gross award of £5.9m which was split up into a lump sum and periodical payments.

Obtained £1 million settlement for woman pedestrian who had had her leg amputated whilst positioned on the pavement where the Defendants were denying liability due to the automatism of the Defendant driver.

Successfully establishing liability against the owners of a factory for a Claimant who sustained serious injuries who was allegedly walking in a prohibited area when hit by a fork lift truck.

Successfully represented a Claimant driver seriously injured when involved in a road junction collision with a lorry where the road merged into one lane immediately after the traffic light controlled junction.

Successfully represented a widower whose 8 month pregnant wife was tragically pinned against a wall by a car killing the unborn child and the wife.

Successfully represented a drunken pedestrian staggering in the road who unfortunately sustained a serious brain injury with only a 30% deduction for contributory negligence
