Paul has extensive experience in Police Law. His work has involved him in a number of complex, high profile and sensitive regulatory / misconduct cases connected with undercover policing / drugs, misconduct (e.g. allegations of dishonesty / sexual misconduct / discriminatory behaviour) and performance.
Between 2009 and 2015 Paul acted as Independent Counsel to Police Misconduct hearings. Since 2016 he has been a Legally Qualified Chair of Police Misconduct hearings, and in 2017 he was appointed a Legally Qualified Chair and Legal Assessor at the Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal Service. Paul is a member of the National Association of Legally Qualified Chairs. In 2019 he was appointed a Recorder. He has a wealth of experience when instructed to act for Police Officers in Misconduct cases.
Paul is a highly regarded and persuasive advocate who enjoys an excellent reputation with professional / lay clients and judges / tribunal members. His broad experience at the Bar, and outside the Bar, has been of immense practical value when advising in, conducting and chairing regulatory / misconduct cases.
