Niamh was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in November 2024, having received scholarships from Gray’s Inn, The University of Law and the Anthony Walker Foundation.
Niamh commenced a criminal law pupillage in September 2025 under the supervision of Steven Swift and Fiona McNeill. She began taking her own instructions in March 2026.
Throughout her first six months of pupillage, Niamh has spent time observing and contributing to a wide range of cases in the Crown Court. Examples include:
- Murder and attempted murder;
- Rape and serious sexual offences;
- Driving offences;
- Drug offences;
- Offences against the person.
Niamh has attended a number of conferences at a variety of stages of proceedings and drafted several pieces of advice. Niamh’s drafting experience includes:
- Advice on evidence;
- Legal applications;
- Advice on appealing sentence including an advice upon the merits of a reference to the Attorney-General.
Before the Bar, Niamh studied Biochemistry at the University of Birmingham. Following her university education, Niamh worked within the Large Loss team at Weightmans where she assisted in high value personal injury cases representing defendant insurance companies. Niamh dealt with large volumes of medical evidence throughout her time at Weightmans, utilising the skills she developed from her science undergraduate degree.
Niamh is passionate about increasing diversity at the Bar and widening accessibility. She regularly seeks to volunteer her time to further these aims whether that be through volunteering with the Young Citizens charity or speaking at schools about a career at the Bar.
