In February 2023 Jess took on the role of Chambers Administrator, providing HR and professional support services for barristers. She is responsible for wider corporate, regulatory, commercial and support services across all three Chambers. Jess is a member of various committees including Regulatory and Compliance, IT, Wellbeing, Charity and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. She is also the Data Diversity Officer for Chambers.

Jess is responsible for ensuring the smooth and effective management of key operational areas, with a strong focus on fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for both members and prospective barristers.

  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion – Committed to promoting equality and diversity within Chambers, Jess leads initiatives aimed at creating a fair and accessible profession. This includes developing policies that support underrepresented groups, organising awareness programs, and ensuring compliance with best practices in diversity and inclusion.
  • Mentoring & Outreach – Jess oversees the Chambers’ mentoring scheme, with a particular focus on supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those without traditional access to the Bar. Through structured guidance, networking opportunities, and outreach programs, Jess helps aspiring barristers navigate the legal profession.
  • Wellbeing & Member Support – Exchange understands the demands of a career at the Bar, and we prioritise wellbeing initiatives that support the physical and mental health of barristers and staff. This includes access to resources, confidential support services, and wellbeing policies that contribute to a positive and balanced working environment.
  • Regulatory & Compliance – Ensuring that Chambers meets all regulatory obligations, Jess manages compliance with Bar Standards Board requirements, insurance, CPD tracking, and other key professional responsibilities.
  • Health, Safety & Facilities – Jess oversees the health and safety of Chambers, ensuring that the premises meet all legal requirements and provide a safe, comfortable working environment. This includes managing building maintenance, accommodation needs, and accessibility for all members and visitors.
  • Complaints Handling – As the point of contact for complaints, Jess ensures that all concerns are addressed promptly, fairly, and in accordance with regulatory guidelines. We prioritise transparency, professionalism, and resolution-focused processes to maintain high standards within Chambers.
  • Library & Legal Subscriptions – Jess manages Chambers’ library resources and legal subscriptions, ensuring barristers have access to up-to-date case law, legislation, and legal commentary. This includes overseeing subscriptions to online databases, print materials, and ensuring members can efficiently access the resources they need for their practice.

In her spare time, Jess enjoys pantomime and amateur dramatics. She is Captain and Officer in Charge of Company and Seniors for 1st Rainford Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association, and is actively involved in her village community.
