Inquests and Inquiries

David is currently a member of the legal team representing families of the surviving children in the Southport Inquiry, led by David Temkin KC and Sara Sutherland.

In his inquests practice, David appears for both bereaved families and public authorities. Recent cases include the following:

• Securing a conclusion of neglect at the inquest into the death of a man who died by suicide whilst awaiting mental health assessment at A&E.
• Led by Sara Sutherland, a complex Article 2 inquest into the death of a baby girl following failings in maternity care.
• Representing the family in a two-week inquest into the death of a teenage girl who took her own life after being admitted to hospital following a previous suicide attempt.
• Representing the NHS in an Article 2 inquest into the death of an in-patient on a psychiatric ward.
• Representing the local council in an inquest into an individual who died in the community following engagement with mental health services.
