Healthcare (GMC)

Chris advises and acts for the General Medical Council in cases where doctors of all grade have been accused of misconduct or clinical incompetence.

Chris prides himself on his rigorous attention to detail as evidence in his renowned case and paper management skills. He has a comprehensive understanding of complex medical, statistical, accounting and/or scientific issues.

He is highly effective when undertaking cross-examination on and/or presenting expert evidence. He does this in a straightforward manner so that the lay tribunal may follow and understand the key issues. He also has vast experience of dealing with and/or cross examining professional persons.

Computer literate, he produces his own paperwork, undertakes legal research using a variety of digital/electronic sources and produces his own databases in complex cases. Chris also has many years of experience of handling digital documentary evidence and frequently advises upon the contents and using electronic court presentations.

Healthcare Cases

GMC v Dr B – A&E doctor charged with conducting inappropriate intimate examination of the complainant at hospital and at her home, failure to record examination, treatment etc in patient’s medical records and misprescribing medication.

GMC v Mr P – General surgeon charged with dishonestly presenting his career history in order to obtain consultant status in the UK. Difficult factual case as had to go back over doctor’s career over the previous 18-20 years in the UK and New Zealand.

GMC v Mr M – Consultant surgeon charged with clinical incompetence resulting in death of patient and falsifying medical notes after complaint lodged.

GMC v Dr S – Family planning GP charged with deficient medical knowledge.

GMC v Dr N – Consultant physician charged with personal and professional misconduct and dishonesty.

GMC v Dr B – Consultant psychiatrist charged with sexual and other inappropriate conduct with patients and colleagues.

GMC v Dr G – GP charged with fraudulent prescribing statins on a huge scale in order to obtain “bonus” payment from Department of Health, other professional and personal misconduct.

GMC v Dr P – Consultant surgeon charged with clinical incompetence and professional and personal misconduct including sexual misconduct in a professional setting.

GMC v Dr Z – Junior doctor charged with professional misconduct (applying dishonestly for training post and other positions) and personal misconduct. GMC v Dr B – GP charged with sexual misconduct with vulnerable patients.
