Cases
Re G (Lancashire): Officer accused of s18 assault and affray. Misconduct proceedings pending outcome of criminal trial. Successful defence at two-week trial resulted in full acquittal following joint trial of four officers. After the complaint of assault was critically undermined at trial, a decision was taken that no misconduct proceedings would be brought.
Re C (Manchester): Officer accused of a variety of offences including perverting the course of justice, misconduct in public office and misuse of computers. The trial is yet to conclude, however, following representations on behalf of the officer a decision has been taken not to proceed with the majority of the offences which were originally the subject of criminal charges.
Re M (Merseyside): Defence of officer at accelerated misconduct hearing accused of posting social media comments which breaches professional standards. Breaches admitted but outcome and finding of gross misconduct are now pending appeal.
Re B (Merseyside): Defence of an officer accused of accessing police systems without authority. Successfully argued at preliminary stage that the evidence which formed the basis for the most serious allegations was inadmissible and should not play any part in the proceedings. The case remains ongoing.
