Nick Johnson QC to speak at English Law Week in Russia

November 7, 2019

Nick Johnson QC has been selected by the Bar Council as an official speaker at English Law Week, which is presenting a series of seminars from 11th to 14th November in Saint Petersburg and Moscow. Nick will be discussing recent uses of financial provisions under the Criminal Finances Act 2017, particularly in the context of corporate and international money laundering investigations.

Nick has considerable experience of representing individuals from Russia and other CIS countries in various matters from financial investigations to asylum and extradition. He is also a member of the Bar Council International Committee.

Nick commented “I’m delighted to be off to Russia, despite the chilly November weather! It’s the 10th anniversary of this event, jointly organised by the Bar Council and Law Society, who have organised 4 days of seminars and events across two cities, followed by a gala dinner. Keeping up to date with UK investigations relating to Russia and the opportunities for the Bar to provide our services there is as important as ever.”

Nick Johnson QC is a member of the criminal department at Exchange Chambers’ Leeds office.

Nick Johnson is a Queen’s Counsel barrister in independent practice with a focus on financial and corporate crime, associated regulatory work and other serious and organised crime.
