Murder defence for John Jones QC

June 21, 2017

John Jones QC has represented 19-year-old Nathan Richardson in a high profile murder defence trial at Preston Crown Court.

After pleading guilty to murder, Richardson was jailed for a minimum of 19 years.

John Jones QC said he was “a young man with the most disadvantaged background and upbringing” who had been diagnosed with a personality disorder and learning difficulties.

He added: “He has pleaded guilty to the murder of an entirely innocent and respectable man. This has affected the defendant profoundly and he is sorry for what he has done.”

Luke Jenkinson was sentenced to two years and nine months after admitting assisting an offender. The court heard he did not know that Richardson had committed murder when he helped him.
