Michael Rawlinson in successful trial defence of Detective Constable

April 18, 2017

Michael Rawlinson from Exchange Chambers has successfully defended a Detective Constable from Humberside who was charged with an assault against his own son.

The trial involved the highly sensitive and difficult cross examination of both the 13-year-old complainant and his 11-year-old brother.

Despite their evidence, and despite alleged eyewitness evidence from the mother of the boys, the officer was acquitted following a three-day trial before a Deputy District Judge at Hull Magistrates’ Court.

Michael was instructed by David Hubbard of Rebian Solicitors in Leeds.

Michael is regularly instructed on behalf of Police Officers and other professionals in both criminal and discipline/misconduct proceedings, as well as inquests. He continues to enjoy repeated success in this field and is now regularly instructed as an established member of Chambers Police Law and Professional Discipline Team.
