Judge halts Rape trial
April 2, 2015
John Wyn Williams from Exchange Chambers, appearing for his client, successfully argued that the Prosecution rape trial case against his client was so inherently weak and peppered with inconsistencies that the case ought to be stopped.
He was appearing at Caernarfon Crown Court and co-defending with Miss Elen Owen in a case where two well known body builders had been accused of historical rape. They had denied the offence and after three days in Court the judge ordered the Jury to return Not Guilty verdicts.
Commenting on the rape trial John said that allegations of this nature were more common after the spate of high profile sexual allegations reported recently.
He said: “It is important to test these allegations with vigour so that defendants are not wrongly convicted.”
John Wyn Williams was instructed by Parry Davies Clwyd-Jones Solicitors of Anglesey.
