Harriet Lavin becomes full member after successful pupillage

September 24, 2020

Exchange Chambers has welcomed Harriet Lavin as a full member after the successful completion of her pupillage.

During her first six, Harriet experienced the panoply of criminal trials: murder, rape, dishonesty, drugs and organised crime, as well as regulatory work such as police misconduct and professional negligence.

Harriet successfully applied for inclusion on the CPS advocates panel at the very start of her second six and since then has gained invaluable trial experience both prosecuting and defending in the Magistrates’ Courts in the North. This has enabled Harriet to build a strong understanding of trial procedure and handling of witnesses from the perspective of both the prosecution and defence. She has also spent time in the Crown Court as counsel in sentences, bail applications and other interlocutory hearings.

Said Chloe Fordham, Harriet’s Pupil Supervisor:

“Harriet is a real star. She exhibits an impressive combination of intelligence, insightfulness and approachability. Everyone at Exchange is looking forward to seeing her career go from strength to strength.”
