Highly regarded construction solicitor David Fearon has been called to the Bar and joined Exchange Chambers as a barrister and member, having previously been a partner at DLA, Halliwells and Kennedys.

David qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and as a solicitor advocate in 2004. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, David worked for many years in the construction, engineering and process engineering industries as a quantity surveyor, project manager and costs control manager with responsibility for a wide variety of projects throughout the UK, Ireland and the USA. He is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), Chartered Builder (MCIOB) and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb).

David, who has regularly been recommended in the independent legal directory, Chambers UK, specialises in construction, engineering and process engineering work, dealing with contentious and non-contentious matters and in particular the resolution of construction and engineering disputes in litigation, arbitration, adjudication, alternative dispute resolution and expert determination. He also undertakes general commercial litigation, and provides advice on non-contentious matters, in particular in relation to construction, engineering and process engineering projects.

He has acted for a wide variety of clients, both domestic and international, including employers, developers, owners, banks, local authorities, consultants, major, medium and small contractors and specialist sub-contractors, individuals and insurers.

Commenting on his career changing move, David Fearon said:

“I have been an advocate for ten years now and transferring to the Bar is something I have been considering for some time.  I am delighted to join Exchange Chambers and, in addition to developing my own practice, look forward to playing my part in the further growth of the specialist construction offering already in Chambers.”

Said Tom Handley, Director of Chambers at Exchange Chambers:

“In recent years we have welcomed a number of former solicitors to Chambers, all of whom are now forging successful careers at the Bar.   David has a first rate reputation within the construction industry and is well regarded as an advocate.  I am sure he will build an extremely successful practice here at Exchange Chambers.”
