Exchange Chambers extends charity partnership with The Rooprai Spinal Trust
January 29, 2026
Exchange Chambers has announced a one-year extension of its charity partnership with The Rooprai Spinal Trust (RST) until summer 2027.
“We are delighted to be extending our partnership with The Rooprai Spinal Trust for a further year,” said Jonathan I’Anson, Chief Executive at Exchange Chambers.
“Working closely with RST, we have seen first-hand the incredible impact it has on the lives of people living with spinal cord injuries.
“An entirely voluntary charity, RST sponsors individuals paralysed by spinal cord injury to access much-needed neuro-physiotherapy rehabilitation programmes. As a full-service barristers’ Chambers, with a strong specialism in complex personal injury work, our barristers and staff understand the life-changing consequences of spinal cord injury and the importance of high-quality post-paralysis support.”
Andy Uttridge, co-founder of RST and Marrianne Rooprai’s partner, welcomed the charity’s ongoing partnership with Exchange. He said:
“We have been incredibly proud to work with Exchange Chambers and are thrilled that they have chosen to extend the partnership.
“Support like this is not only financially beneficial to the charity, but also invaluable in raising awareness of the work we do with those affected by spinal cord injuries. We know first-hand how life can change in a blink of an eye, and it is vital that people in this situation know there is help available.”
Since the partnership began, Exchange Chambers has supported RST through a range of fundraising and awareness-raising initiatives, including two black-tie charity dinners in Manchester, where Andy and Marrianne shared insight into the charity’s work and its impact.
Thanks to its partnership with Exchange Chambers, RST has been able to offer meaningful, life-changing support.
One example is Tucker, a man in his 70s living with tetraplegia after a fall down the stairs left him paralysed and with limited support. RST fully funded Tucker’s intensive four-week course at The Rehab Physio in Wirral, rehabilitation that would otherwise have been out of reach.
Beyond one-to-one rehab, Exchange’s support has also helped launch RST’s new Back to the Gym initiative in collaboration with VIM Health in Brighton. The programme is designed to help wheelchair users regain confidence and strength through gym-based exercise and is set to be rolled out to other areas across the UK.
RST has also been able to expand its Physiotherapy Scholarship Programme, welcoming ten additional individuals, including a young mum from Manchester paralysed after a fall, a dad from Cheshire injured in a surfing accident, a teenager from Doncaster injured in a cycling accident and a proud Welshman from Cardiff also injured in a cycling accident.
Andy Uttridge added:
“Exchange Chambers has been incredibly enthusiastic and engaged throughout our partnership, and we look forward to building on everything we have achieved together moving forward.”
