Exchange Chambers continues community engagement programme with Dominica Association partnership

October 15, 2025

Continuing its proud tradition of community partnership, Exchange Chambers has once again pledged its support for the Dominica Association of Bradford’s Black History Month celebrations.

The Dominica Association was set up in 1979 after Hurricane David in Dominica. A few Dominicans living in Bradford got together to raise money towards relief. They continued to do so for several months and as the word spread, many more Dominicans got on board to assist. The Association continues to develop and provide cultural, social and educational facilities for Dominicans and the wider community.

The Dominica Association runs a series of events during Black History Month, with Exchange Chambers partnering with the Association and its Unity in the Community programme to deliver their International Creole Day celebrations on 31 October 2025.

Said Jacqueline Deans, barrister at Exchange Chambers:

“I am delighted that Exchange Chambers is committed to supporting our local communities and causes. The Dominica Association is an organisation that I hold very close to my heart as I have first-hand knowledge of how it has developed into a multifunctional community hub and how it extends a warm welcome to members of the local community who utilise its wide range of services. I am very much looking forward to attending the International Creole Day celebrations later this month and to supporting the Dominica Association and its Unity in the Community programme.”

Garry Serrant, Centre Manager for the Dominica Association in Bradford:

“We are very grateful to Exchange Chambers for its continued support.

“At the Dominica Association, we firmly believe that together we are stronger. We actively collaborate with other Caribbean community associations, local organisations, and governmental bodies to amplify our impact and advocate for the needs of our community. By uniting our voices, we strive to create a more inclusive, equitable, and thriving environment for everyone.”
