Exchange Chambers barristers secure murder acquittal for client

November 21, 2016

Stephen Meadowcroft QC and Richard Littler from Exchange Chambers have secured an acquittal for a 28 year old man client charged with murder.

After a retrial, Scott Chapman was cleared of the murder of Kieran McGrath who was shot after leaving the Sheldon Arms, Ashton-under-Lyne, on 4 October 2014. He managed to drive to the local police station about a mile away but collapsed and died outside.

At the same retrial, Remi Adams, 34, was convicted of murder.  Three other men were convicted in April of murdering Mr McGrath who police said was involved in a “bitter feud”.
