Exchange Chambers barrister to run Paris Marathon for Rooprai Spinal Trust

April 2, 2026

A barrister at Exchange Chambers is set to take on the Paris Marathon in support of the set’s official charity, the Rooprai Spinal Trust.

Natalia Cornwall, who practises in criminal law, will run the 26.2-mile course through the French capital on 12 April, raising funds for the charity, which supports people in the UK paralysed by spinal cord injuries to access life-changing neuro-physiotherapy rehabilitation programmes.

The Rooprai Spinal Trust (RST) was established in 2005, inspired by Marianne Rooprai, who was paralysed from the shoulders down following a devastating car accident in 2004.

Natalia was inspired to take on the challenge after meeting the charity’s founders, Marianne and her partner Andy Uttridge, last year.

Speaking ahead of the race, Natalia said:

“Running the Paris Marathon is not how I imagined seeing the city, but after meeting Marianne and Andy and learning more about the incredible work of the Rooprai Spinal Trust, saying yes was the only option.

“Marianne and Andy are a tour de force, and the work of the Rooprai Spinal Trust is truly incredible. The charity supports people across the UK who have been left paralysed by spinal cord injuries, helping them access life-changing physiotherapy.

“It is both a privilege and an honour to run on their behalf, and I feel very fortunate to be able to do this. Having just completed my first half marathon, I’m raring to go.”

Andy Uttridge, co-founder of the Rooprai Spinal Trust, said:

“This is another brilliant example of how Exchange Chambers and its members continue to support the Rooprai Spinal Trust. We are hugely grateful to Natalia for taking on such an incredible challenge.

“The funds raised will make a real and lasting difference to people living with spinal cord injuries.”

Tim Wilkinson, a barrister at Exchange Chambers who has long supported the Rooprai Spinal Trust, said:

“Everyone at Exchange Chambers is immensely proud of Natalia for taking on such a fantastic challenge. It’s a cause very close to many of our hearts, and we know she will do brilliantly. We wish her the very best of luck on race day.”

The Paris Marathon is one of the world’s most prestigious races, attracting tens of thousands of runners each year.
