January 27, 2016
Andrew Petterson from Exchange Chambers has secured a significant sentence reduction for his client at the Court of Appeal.
In a historical sexual abuse case, Andrew’s client was originally sentenced to three years in prison. This sentence was quashed by the Court of Appeal and a community order with 12 months supervision was imposed. The Defendant, who was aged between 11 and 13 at the time of offences, was 21 when sentenced.
There has been an order made by the court that no information can be published that would lead to the identification of the victims.
The matter was listed before Lady Justice Macur DBE, Mr Justice Nicol and The Recorder of Sheffield sitting as a judge of the Court of Appeal Criminal Division.
Andrew is a member of the criminal department at Exchange Chambers.
