Clare Porter-Phillips shortlisted for Barrister of the Year Award

December 20, 2024

Clare Porter-Phillips from Exchange Chambers has been shortlisted for the prestigious Barrister of the Year accolade at the Manchester Resolution Awards 2025.

Resolution is a community of family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way.

Founded in 1982 by a group of family lawyers, the group believes that a non-confrontational approach to family law issues produces better outcomes for separating families and their children.

Clare Porter-Phillips has been at the Bar since 2001 and is one of the leading family practitioners on Circuit. At Exchange, she leads the family team in Manchester.

With a specialism in private law, Clare is widely recognised for her ability to foster a conciliatory approach in highly contentious proceedings.  Instructing solicitors describe her as a “truly exceptional family law practitioner” who “goes above and beyond on every, single case”.

Clare is currently leading and collaborating with likeminded family law professionals to establish a form of Non-Court Dispute Resolution (NCDR). Designed to fit between mediation and arbitration, it aims to deliver a holistic approach to DR, empowering accountability, acceptance, compromise and change, a move towards conscious decision making within the proceedings, and growth of conscious co-parenting.

Congratulating Clare, Jonathan I’Anson, Chief Executive at Exchange Chambers said:

“Clare is an exceptional family law practitioner with an outstanding practice. As head of our Manchester team, she has established a business plan for growth and invested time in the development of pupils and junior barristers. She would be a worthy winner of this award.”

The Manchester Resolution Awards take place at the Lowry Hotel on 30 January 2025.
