Charlotte Rimmer secures acquittal in sexual assault trial

October 4, 2019

Charlotte Rimmer from Exchange Chambers has secured the acquittal of a man charged with sexual assault following a trial at Leeds Crown Court.

The defendant faced an allegation of sexually assaulting a woman in a night club in Leeds City Centre. The Crown alleged that the complainant had been invited into a toilet cubicle on the pretext of a drug search and whilst in the cubicle was touched inappropriately.

This allegation was denied from the outset. Working closely in the run up to trial with instructing solicitor Ella Barker of ABR Solicitors, Charlotte obtained expert analysis of the CCTV footage which was used to challenge the prosecution case. After two days deliberating, jurors concluded that the defendant was not guilty.

Charlotte is a member of the criminal team at Exchange Chambers.
