Julian King appears in Gloucestershire Constabulary Misconduct Hearing

Julian King represented a police sergeant from Gloucestershire Constabulary in a hearing held over two weeks at Gloucestershire Police Headquarters in Gloucester. Sgt M faced allegations of inappropriate, controlling, and harassing behaviour. The tribunal heard evidence concerning on duty and off duty conduct towards junior female colleagues under the Officer’s direct supervision. It was asserted by the Appropriate Authority that his behaviour amounted to Gross Misconduct. Following the live evidence and closing submissions, the Panel found the majority of allegations were not proved. A finding of Misconduct only, related to a breach of Authority, Respect and Courtesy. The Panel found the Officer’s actions were neither controlling or harassing and did not amount to Discreditable Conduct. Accordingly, there was no finding of Gross Misconduct and the Officer received a written warning.
