250 delegates gathered at Liverpool Town Hall this week for Exchange Chambers’ sixth annual conference for local authorities, registered social landlords and their insurers. The seminar proved to be the most popular yet with a waiting list of delegates wishing to attend. The event is now the largest of its kind in the country.
Following a short introduction to the history of the Town Hall by Dr. Frank Carlyle - local historian and BBC broadcaster - delegates were able to attend a range of seminars throughout the day and were able to exchange their own experiences of litigation with eachother during informal discussions over lunch in the magnificent main ballroom at the Town Hall.
The 16 speakers from Exchange Chambers – recently named a leading set by Chambers UK 2011 (the leading independent guide to the legal profession) – covered areas as diverse as anti-social behaviour, housing law and human rights, criminal law, personal injury, mediation, employment law, commercial litigation, family law and public law.
Roy Finney, Practice Manager at Exchange Chambers, commenting on the success of the seminar, said:
“We knew from previous years that this annual event would be popular but the number of delegates far exceeded our expectations this year. The fact that the event is now the largest of its kind in the country and yet we still have to operate a waiting list is testament to the expertise and popularity of our barristers in this market. The feedback from delegates has been excellent and we are looking forward to building on this success during 2011”.
Delegates were equally enthusiastic about the event.
Melanie Dirom, an associate at Brabners Chaffe Street said:
“This was another outstanding conference from the team at Exchange Chambers. Topical, relevant and practical seminars were delivered by leaders in their field. This conference is a must for anyone in the social housing sector.”
Susan Taylor from Wigan MBC said:
“This was a thoroughly enjoyable event in which complicated subjects were made easy. It was excellent – as always.”
Another delegate from Liverpool City Council added:
“This was the best seminar I’ve ever attended.”
