HM The Queen has appointed Graham Knowles QC from Exchange Chambers to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Jack Straw MP.
The Right Honourable The Lord Judge, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales has assigned him to the Northern Circuit, based at Preston Crown Court with effect from Monday 15th February 2010.
Graham Knowles QC (41) was called to the Bar in 1990 and took silk in 2009. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2005.
During his time at the Bar, Graham Knowles QC established himself as a leading criminal barrister and was consistently recommended by the legal directory, Chambers UK.
Graham Knowles' appointment as a Circuit Judge is the latest in a long line of judicial appointments for Exchange Chambers members, most recently Tim Holroyde QC who was sworn in as a High Court Judge last year.
Said Tom Handley, Director of Chambers at Exchange Chambers:
"We are delighted for Graham. To be appointed as a Circuit Judge so quickly is a credit to him and a fine reflection on Chambers."
